The whispery wind murmured in Kiara's ears. The silent words drew her from the peaceful slumber that had claimed her the night before. It was just before sunrise. The trees’ shadowy limbs cut the dawning sky into abstract bits. Blinking the sleep from her green eyes she pulled herself up into a sit. At last her mind settled on the idea that she was awake. Delicately, she lifted herself from the temporary bed and walked toward the pool. Her pace was solemn and morbid as she strode across the clearing. For the moment she was peaceful. Closing her eyes she stretched and felt her sleek onyx body finally chase away the last of the drowsiness that plagued her. The skin over her scar didn't even pull, the only way to know it existed was to see for yourself, its long passage over her left side. The first of the morning’s rays drew her eyes open. She had a rare moment of peace. Crouching down, she watched the oasis's water lap against the earth. Her cool eyes followed the pattern before she lowered her head to drink. The crisp clear liquid ran down through her throat, seeming to leave frost in its wake.
Someone was coming. She didn't see, hear or scent anything. It was just one of those feelings you get. That says another being is close. Idly her ears flickered, searching for proof.

Sain was hidden up in a tree. He was looking down at the black panther. His golden eyes stared straight at her as he slowly, and quietly, jumped down out of the tree. He landed lightly on his paws, but the leaves rustled at him. His mouth, slightly open, brought in the scent of the stranger who stood several feet in front of him. Quietly, he walked over towards the small pool and looked anxious for a drink of water, but he wouldn't take it until the other large cat was done. He sat down, waiting patiently for the panther to finish. He looked around the area, wondering if there was any prey around here. He kept his ears open incase someone was planning to attack him.
"Anyone else around here besides you?" he asked, now turning back the the large wild cat.

A tree's organic fingers, danced as if in a slight wind. She wasn't fooled. Her black ears flicked back, trained on the noise's creator. Swiveling her head her cool gaze watched the lion come up. She didn't recognize him. Still, that wasn't proof that he was from another pack. Step by step he drew closer. The tip of her tail gave a quick flick as she waited. A few feet away he stopped and sat, his golden pelt contrasting sharply with the shadowy green that covered this place. Her head again fell to the water and took one last drink. With cold fluid still flowing down her throat she stepped back, giving the brute his chance to drink. He had said something. Quickly she pulled back the memory and played it through her head. "Anyone else around here besides you?" Her response was already delayed. So instead of giving a late response she decided to give none at all.
Her back legs folded under her, and her eyes drifted up to stare between fluttering leaves. The dawning sun had turned te sky peachy-orange.

Sain looked at her, but then lowered his head down to the water. He began to lap it up, quickly. He wondered why she didn't talk, but then he didn't care. He was just happy that he wasn't being attacked. After a minute, he stopped and looked up. His mane dripped with water as he brought his head up. He blinked a few times, waiting for an answer, but when none came he just stared at her. His dark, tawny pelt glowed golden in the sunlight as he hitched himself up to all four of his paws. He shook his pelt.
"What are you doing out here by yourself? Don't you have anyone?" he asked. He would probably be asked the same question, since he was all alone out here, also. "Did you run away?" he asked, curiously. He wanted to know more about her, but he wasn't sure if sahe would talk to him or not. Well, it was better to try and get her to talk. It's not like he had anything better to do.
