Bane
"What if I fell to the floor
Couldn't take all this anymore
What would you do?"
the basics,
»»character full name: Bane
»»age: 4 years
»»species: timber wolf
»»pack: Canitao (Possible Alpha Male, perhaps?)
the appearance,
»»eyes: A very bright green
»»markings: His under side is a tan color, and the main color of his coat is a very dark red. though they are hardly noticeable, Bane has black tiger-like stripes along his back as well.
»»height: 30 inches at the shoulder.
»»weight: 127 pounds
»»general appearance: Bane is a large he-wolf, and not just by coincidents. He is quite strong, and skilled in battle and hunting. His dark fur allows him to hide deep within shadows and is the perfect accomplice during night hunts and border checks. Strong-muscled legs and shoulders make him an extremely fast runner, and powerful jaws and sharp fangs can tear through the thickest hide. He's not exactly the type of person you'd want to be on the bad side of.
the personality,
»»likes: He loves to go out at night, finding comfort in its shadows. He also enjoys a good fight or challenge, always enjoying showing off or testing his strengths. He prefers to be alone, though he will participate in pack activities if he must.
»»dislikes: Others being scared of him because of his looks, having to talk excessively infront of others, and being surrounded by other wolves (he prefers to be left alone most of the time, or maybe one or two trusted others).
»»strengths: He's an excellent fighter, seeing as in his past pack it was essential to know how to fight and fight well unless you wished to be killed. He is also very intellegent, his mind fast thinking. He can figure out things in a heart beat; what move your going to make before you make it, what your body language and your expressions really mean, what your plotting to get and why. But, sometimes, knowing all those things can make life rather dull so he tries to ignore it, or, lets say he saw what someone was scheming, he would let them follow out with their plans just to see how events would fall into place, stoppinf them when things got to far.
»»weaknesses: He underestimates people and their own strengths and weaknesses, getting him or his packmates in trouble. Being the non-social type, he can often be found alone and vulnerable to things greater than him, or assasination and such. Not that he really minds. As long as it is he getting hurt and not somebody else, he's fine with it.
»»secrets: Though its not really a secret, Bane likes to think of it as one. Truth is, behind his non-social, quiet, and cold attitude, he cares greatly for those around him and would do anything to protect them from harm, even if they are complete strangers.
the history,
»»mother: Tajah
»»father: Cerberus
»»siblings: Fauna (deceased), Flora (deceased)
»»others: Ares; his uncle who raised Bane as his son. Bane believes him to be his father instead of Cerberus.
»»background: Bane was raised in a pack unlike any other. It consisted of all male wolves, with only one female for the alpha, and maybe one for the alpha’s heir. All female pups were killed at birth unless betrothed to the future alpha male. The pack thought that having no she-wolfs made them stronger, and, in some matters, it did. But you can’t have an all-male pack without lots of competition and fights. So it was a custom that all pup be trained from the time they can walk to fight. This was the life that Bane led.
Ares, his uncle, was the alpha male at the time. He was a strong wolf and a powerful leader, ruling over his land with an iron paw. But he wished for something more; a son that would exceed him when he past, someone he could train in the ways of being a strong alpha, a wolf that he could trust with such a high position. But, sadly, the she-wolf he had picked for his mate was unable to bring him what he wanted and he cast her out, banning her from the pack. His brother however, Cerberus, was more successful with such things and mated with a stray she-wolf that had wandered into the territory, hiding her away until she had given birth; a male pup and two she-pups. As he was always taught to do, he killed his two daughters. Not letting the she-wolf grieve over her lost children, Cerberus brought her and his son pack to the pack.
At first, Ares was furious with his brother for bringing a female into the pack, threatening to banish both him and the she-wolf if he did not chase her away imediantly. But, once her saw what the she-wolf carried in her jaws, the alpha become sincerely interested; a male pup. His brother had mated with this wolf. Of course, it was a serious crime to mate without the alpha’s consent, and even more so with a she-wolf he did not choose to have the privilege of being mated by one of his warriors, but Ares thought he knew of a way to settle this without having to banish his brother. He took the pup for his own.
Bane was raised as Ares’ heir and son, not knowing who his real father was, only the Cerberus seemed to watch him especially closely. Bane always though he was just being an over protecting uncle. His mother was a kind wolf, her name was Tajah, and she raised him with a gentle hand, teaching him what was right and wrong. She confided in her son quite a bit, telling him of how she hated it here, always being looked down upon like a worthless piece of prey, and Bane felt bad for her. He asked Ares why they hated she-wolf’s so much, in an attempt to help his mother. But his adopted fathers reply didn’t exactly help him; “They are vermin, Bane, nothing good comes from a she-wolf but more male pups, and even then we have to give them the privilege- the honor! -of baring our children, yet they still dare to taint the litters with more retched females.”
The words that poured from his father’s mouth stung Bane, making his small heart ache with hurt and confusion. He knew what Ares spoke was a lie, she-wolfs were not vermin, and they were just as good as any other wolf. But he was confused as well; why did his father think so little of his mother and other females? Was it because of how he was raised, taught to hate them and treat them like dirt? If so, Bane swore to himself that he would never turn out like that, no matter what his father taught him.
A month or so later, Bane had grown incredibly and was now weaned of his mother’s milk. Sadly though, this only meant one this to Ares and the rest of the pack; it was time for the Tajah to go. Ares took Bane out for his usually day of training, taking him farther off into the woods than usual, and when they got back… his mother was gone, the smell of her blood lingering in the air. It didn’t take long for him to figure out what had happened to her.
After the murder of his mother, Bane became quieter, only talking with the other wolves when he needed to, or when he was training with Ares. The other young wolves scoffed at him, finding the love he had had for the she-wolf amusing, but Bane hardly noticed. As he used less and less of his voice, the other wolves simply left him alone. So, he watched them and began to develop his unique skill of being able to tell things, notice things over other wolves that most wouldn’t even consider to look at or take too seriously. As years past, and he turned three, Bane had become very talented in his skill, along with his fighting skills as well. He was the pride of Ares, and the rest of the pack, and was treated very well. But it wasn’t what he wanted.
He’d been with this blood-crazed, female-hating, fighting pack his whole life without a choice, and he was tired of it. So, under the cover of darkness, he slipped away from his den and trotted off toward the north. He’d heard of other packs, larger packs that were more to his liking. He hoped to join one of them, if he found any.
Bane traveled as a loner for a long time, a year he guessed but hadn’t really cared enough to notice the changes of the seasons to keep track. He wandered, following the stars and staying north, until he found himself in a valley unlike any he’d ever seen. One pack, divided into three; wolfs, large cats, and a mix of the two who joined forces with the human toys called cats and dogs. It was very interesting to Bane, and he decided then that this is where he would stay. Join the wolf pack, maybe as an alpha, seeing as that is what he had been trained to be, and create a new life here, one without the loss of those you loved. As confident as ever, Bane had strode toward the territory of Canitao, his head and tail high with pride as he padded into his future.
